Brick Paver Maintenance Tips
How to maintain your brick pavers
Brick pavers on your patio or driveway give your home a fresh, new look and feel. They are notoriously durable and built to last, but they are also typically exposed to the elements and to Florida’s harsh weather. This can cause some deteriation and fading over the years. Here are some tips to help prolong the lifespan of your brick pavers:
Sweep regularly
As leaves, debris, and dust build up on your pavers, they can start to stain and fade the colors. Sweeping frequently keeps your brick pavers fresh and looking brand new. If your pavers still look faded or dirty after sweeping, try the next two tips.
Clean with a brush and water
If your pavers are still looking dirty, try cleaning them with water and a brush. This will help loosen some built-up dirt and debris. Sweep with your outdoor brush on the wet surface and if the grime won’t go away, try the next step.
Spot-clean stubborn stains with a cleaning solution
If you have specific stubborn stains, it’s probably time to take out the cleaning solutions. Be careful with which ones you use, though. Some cleaners may kill your nearby grass or add to the fading on your brick pavers. We recommend going with a pavers-specific cleaning solution. Try some of these pavers cleaning solutions on Amazon.
Use a paver sealer
Your paver installation company should be doing this step for you after installation, so this is for the DIYers. Once your down installaing your brick pavers, be sure to use a paver sealer. This helps protect from mold, dirt, and grime. It makes your pavers look shiny and brand new for much longer than an unsealed brick paver driveway or patio.
Replace broken pavers
If your pavers are cracked or broken, it’s not as big of a deal as it may seem. Individual bricks can be replaced relatively easily. Contact your brick paver contractor to ask how they handle repairs on previous installations.
